Defib Competent User – 1/2 Day Course
AED – Defib Competent User (4 hour course)
This course teaches students how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). It is ideal for people interested in furthering their First Aid knowledge, and increasing confidence in this type of emergency. No previous knowledge of First Aid is necessary to attend this AED course.
Once you have completed this course you will be able to:
- Assess a casualty and attempt to gain a response
- Check to see if the casualty is breathing or not breathing
- Perform effective C.P.R.
- Recognise and treat Heart Attacks
- Understand how the AED works
- Operate the AED
There is no final assessment on this course. Your trainer will provide an on-going assessment for each participant.
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Competent User certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course. The certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of the training. An appropriate First Aid training manual will also be issued.
